ZEBULON — One person died in a single-car crash on U.S. 64 on Saturday night, according to the Zebulon Police Department.

Shannon Faye Parker, 21, of Zebulon, was driving a 2003 Ford Explorer west on U.S. 64 when she lost control of the vehicle around 9:59 p.m., according to a press release.

Her car struck the concrete supports of the Shepard School Road overpass bridge.

Members of the Zebulon Fire Department tried to give first aid at the scene, but she was pronounced dead on scene by Wake County EMS.

There were no passengers or other vehicles involved in the crash, Zebulon police said.

Police believe speed was a cause of the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
