ROCKY MOUNT — Hundreds of supporters will gather at the Rocky Mount Sports Complex this Saturday for Your Choice Pregnancy Resource Center’s 29th Walk for Life and first 5K Run for Life.

Registration for the walk and runner packet pickup will begin at 8 a.m. Opening ceremonies will begin at 9 and the walk and run will start at 9:15.

The fundraiser will feature family events including balloon art, face-painting, glitter tattoos and a bounce house. Chick-fil-A biscuits, coffee and water will be available for purchase and Chick-fil-A coupons will be available for all sponsored walkers and runners.

Funds raised are used to provide a variety of free services including pregnancy and sexually transmitted infection testing and limited ultrasound tests. Your Choice Pregnancy Resource Center also offers education classes on parenting, childbirth, lactation and infant care as well as support for fathers and those who have experienced a pregnancy loss.

Contributions enable the nonprofit’s “Worth Waiting 4” team to visit local schools and churches and keep its mobile medical unit on the road in Rocky Mount and surrounding communities. All pregnancy resource center services are offered free of charge. Contributions to Your Choice Pregnancy Resource Center are tax-deductible.

Once walkers raise $150 or more in pledges, they are eligible to receive a free Walk for Life T-shirt. Prizes will be awarded to adults, teens and children who raise the most money and who have the most sponsors. Runners will receive a long-sleeve T-shirt with their online registration fee. The top three race winners for each age category listed on the Your Choice website will receive custom YCRC running socks. The top three overall male and female runners will win custom artwork from Nash Correctional Institution’s art club.

Runners must register online and are encouraged to fundraise online, as well. Walkers may also register and fundraise online. To register or to make a sponsorship gift to a runner or walker, visit www.friendsofycrc.org.

Participants who are unable to walk on Saturday can complete the walk individually and bring contributions to the center at a later date. For more information, call the resource center at 252-446-2273.
