A steady downpour Saturday did not deter onlookers from enjoying the town of Bailey’s annual Christmas parade.

Hundreds of people lined Main Street to see the caravan of colorful floats, distinctive cars, high school bands and pageant queens who took part in this year’s parade.

The parade, as well as the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony Friday evening, were presented by the Bailey Chamber of Commerce.

“This parade goes forward every year, rain or shine. People really seem to enjoy it,” said chamber President Cecil Hawley.

Vendors lined the parade route offering face-painting, balloon art and a variety of festival foods.

On Friday, residents gathered to light the town tree. Miss Bailey 2018, Hailee Griffin, had the honor of switching on the lights.

The chamber also honored Dr. Theodore Brna on Friday evening for his almost 30 years of service as a physician in Bailey. Brna served as this year’s parade grand marshal.
