PINETOPS — Police are searching for a man who robbed a Dollar General store at gunpoint on Thursday night.
The robber entered the 315 E. Hamlet St. store around 10:46 p.m., brandished a gun and demanded money from the clerk, Pinetops Police Chief Stacy Harrell said in a news release. The man made off with an undisclosed amount of money and ran away toward Sixth Street.
Police describe the robber as a black man with a small and skinny build whose hair was possibly worn in short dreadlocks. He had white shirts wrapped around his head and was wearing a black long-sleeved shirt or pullover, tan or light gray pants and gray or tan and black tennis shoes.
Authorities are requesting the public’s help to identify a suspect in the robbery. Harrell said a reward is being offered for information that leads to a conviction and that all tips will be kept confidential.
Anyone with information is asked to call Chief Stacy Harrell or Detective Sgt. Brown at 252-827-5014 or 252-813-9680.
