Representatives from Big East Conference champion Hunt, runner-up Southern Nash and third-place Fike, along with Franklinton sophomore Sarah Kenny, will compete in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association 3-A East Regional at Reedy Creek Golf Course in Johnston County on Tuesday, Oct. 22.

Hunt will enter Barnes, a sophomore; Worley, a junior, and Boykin, a sophomore. Southern Nash’s entrants are Collie, a senior; Hall, a senior; and Samantha Puckett, a freshman. Headed to Reedy Creek from Fike is the freshman trio of Jinks, Harold and Kelsey Miller.

Beddingfield did not have a golfer to qualify for the 1-A/2-A East Regional, set for Monday at Lane Tree Golf Club in Goldsboro.

The 2019 All-Big East girls golf team is correct as listed in a recent report in The Wilson Times sports section.

However, the order of finish among the top 10 and final stroke totals were unofficial. Overlooked was the fact that one nine of the 18-hole final round could be omitted and both nines did not have to be counted. The lowest five nine-hole rounds of six counted.

The correct lineup: 1. Elisabeth Collie of Southern Nash, 213; T2. Ashton Barnes, Hunt, 234; T2. Elizabeth Worley, Hunt, 234; 4. Taylor Hall, Southern Nash, 238; 5. Allison Boykin, Hunt, 239; 6. Lanie Jinks, Fike, 243; T7. Sarah Kenny, Franklinton, 248; T7. Samantha Puckett, Southern Nash, 248; 9. Gracie Taylor, Hunt, 251; 10. Morgan Harold, Fike, 259.

Thus, Collie reigns as the medalist and player of the year for the second time in the last three years. Worley didn’t wind up third, but rather she tied for second, and Puckett tied for seventh instead of finishing eighth.
