Nash County has its first confirmed case of COVID-19.
The case hasn't been reported at the state level, but. it's credible and should show up in statewide reporting soon, said Nash County Health Director Bill Hill.
At any rate, the new coronavirus doesn't recognize county lines and everyone should take precautions, Hill said.
As of Friday afternoon, there's at least 160 cases in North Carolina, according to compiled reports from state health officials and news media outlets.
Gov. Roy Cooper, a Nash County native, told reporters Thursday that the situation will get worse before it gets better. He called for North Carolinians to practice social distancing to help slow the spread of the disease.
