SPRING HOPE — James Bobby Sykes, 84, joined his heavenly family on May 27, 2019 at his home in the Peachtree community.

He was born Nov. 17, 1934 in Nash County to James Asker and Betty Laura Bass Sykes, and was the youngest of 15 children.

Bobby is survived by his wife, Janice Pridgen Sykes; children, Mike (Karen) and Janet Barker (Terry); four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Bobby loved his family so much and they loved him dearly. He was deeply devoted to his wife for 62 years. Bobby and his family moved to the Peachtree community in 1966 and have been members at Peachtree Baptist Church since that time. Bobby worked for Pepsi-Cola Bottling in Rocky Mount until he became disabled in 1977. He was a kind man who was loved by many. He enjoyed serving others in his church and community. One of his greatest joys in life was serving as the leader of the Royal Ambassadors at Peachtree Baptist Church. They had many adventures from fishing, camping and bowling to just having a good time while sharing the message of Jesus Christ.

The funeral was held Wednesday, May 29 at Peachtree Baptist Church.

Cornerstone Funeral Home, 1052 S. First St., Nashville, is honored to be caring for the Sykes family.
