Area growers and artisans will be on hand this weekend as Bailey holds its first farmers market of the season.

Local resident Casey Strickland, who is organizing the event, said having a farmers market is a good way to bring the community together and support local businesses.

“I have a vision along with a lot of Bailey’s citizens of what our town can be. In order to achieve that, we have to have community involvement, so the idea of a farmers market was born,” Strickland said.

Strickland said she has a sense of pride in her hometown and wants to see it thrive and grow.

“I want to bring a sense of community back into a town that knows what it means to help your neighbor,” she said. “We can’t wait to see everybody.”

A variety of vendors will be on hand selling fresh produce, crafts and a number of other wares. However, Strickland said vendor applications are still being accepted.

“We have a strong start for our first market,” Strickland said.

The farmers market will be held from 8 a.m. to noon at the Christmas tree lot in Bailey. For more information or to become a vendor, contact Casey Strickland at 252-235-8296 or caseyreest@gmail.com.
