ROCKY MOUNT — The Edgecombe and Nash County Juvenile Crime Prevention Councils will hold a joint meeting at 9 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21 at the East Carolina Ag and Education Center.

Church to hold chicken pastry supper

NASHVILLE — Sandy Cross United Methodist Church, 3725 Sandy Cross Road in the Coopers community, will have a chicken pastry supper from 3-7 p.m. Saturday, March 2. The cost is $8 and is available for dine-in only. All-you-can-eat supper includes dessert and beverage. Diners pay at the door and children under 5 eat free. Ash Wednesday service slated

SPRING HOPE — Gibson Memorial United Methodist Church, 202 E. Branch St., will hold its annual Ash Wednesday service beginning at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 6. The service marks the beginning of the Christian season of Lent.

Nash Republicans to hold convention

ROCKY MOUNT — The Nash County Republican Party will hold its convention Thursday, March 7 in Nash Community College’s Brown Auditorium, 522 N. Old Carriage Road. Lt. Gov. Dan Forest will be the keynote speaker.

Town seeks volunteers for board service

SPRING HOPE — The Spring Hope Board of Commissioners is inviting residents to apply for several open positions on volunteer boards. The town has one opening on the Downtown Development Board; two openings on the Planning Board; and two openings for representatives of the extraterritorial jurisdiction on the Board of Adjustment who will be appointed by the county.

Applications for any of these positions are available in the town hall.
