Crime prevention panels to meet

ROCKY MOUNT - The Edgecombe and Nash County Juvenile Crime Prevention Councils will meet at 9 a.m. Thursday, March 21 at the East Carolina Ag and Education Center.

Sharpsburg board reschedules meeting

SHARPSBURG - The Sharpsburg Board of Commissioners has rescheduled its March 20 meeting for 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 2 at Town Hall, 110 W. Railroad St.

Commissioners will discuss rezoning requests to make way for a solar farm, a 2018-19 budget amendment, a contract for the CodeRed emergency notification system, an Upper Coastal Plain Council of Governments planning grant and a resolution authorizing the sale of property at 3950 S. Hathaway Blvd.

Commissioners also plan to meet in closed session to discuss personnel matters, according to an agenda provided by Town Clerk Tracy Sullivan.

Family empowerment meeting slated 

NASHVILLE - The Empowering Youth and Families Program for Nash County will hold its first meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 21 at Nashville United Methodist Church, 209 E. Washington St.
