MIDDLESEX — A back-to-school bash will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17 at Middlesex Community Park on West Hanes Street. The event is open to school-age children in the Middlesex area. First Baptist plans back-to-school event

SPRING HOPE — First Baptist Church, 111 Walnut St. N., will hold a back-to-school bash from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17 with games, a bounce house, service vehicles and free hot dogs.

Human trafficking response training slated

ROCKY MOUNT — New Life Church, 1127 Benvenue Road, will host a training session on identifying and addressing human trafficking from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20.

Seminars are intended for professionals in Wilson, Nash and Edgecombe counties including law enforcement officers, elected officials, social workers, teachers and school personnel, municipal workers and mental health and health care providers. Topics include how to identify and communicate with victims, how to investigate trafficking cases, how to provide trauma-informed services and how communities can work together to combat human trafficking.

The N.C. Governor’s Crime Commission is funding the training session. Registration is $6 and participants can register online at https://august20rockymounthttraining.eventbrite.com.

Senior care home plans open house

SPRING HOPE — A Heart 2 Care Home, a new senior living family care home at 307 N. Pine St., will hold an open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24. Light refreshments will be provided. For more information, visit www.aheart2care.com.

Church plans back-to-school festival

SHARPSBURG — Faith, Hope and Charity Christian Center will hold a community outreach and back-to-school festival from 2-6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24 at Sharpsburg Community Park on Jessica Way. The festival features free food, games, activities and a school supply giveaway.

Church to host gospel concert

SPRING HOPE — Free Union Free Will Baptist Church, 3534 Macedonia Road, will feature Southern gospel singing group His Voice in concert at 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25. Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.

Justice tractor show scheduled

SPRING HOPE — Duke Memorial Baptist Church and the Justice Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor the 20th annual Justice Community Antique Tractor, Car and Engine Show Friday, Sept. 6 and Saturday, Sept. 7 Special events include a parade of cars and tractors, music, events for children, a swap meet and silent auction. Spaghetti plates will be available for $7 each beginning at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 6. The show will end at noon Sept. 7.

Chamber plans community yard sale

SPRING HOPE — The Spring Hope Area Chamber of Commerce will hold a community yard sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7 in the downtown depot area.

The sale is open to individuals, organizations and retail vendors. Spaces are on a first-pick basis at registration. Spaces 1-20 must be filled before spaces 21-40 will be available. Commercial vendors are required to register in advance for the Pine Street marketplace, with 12-foot by 12-foot spaces available for $10 each.
