SPRING HOPE — The Spring Hope Chamber of Commerce has announced the entertainment lineup for the 2020 Spring Hope National Pumpkin Festival.
Russ James will be returning this year. James, who played on the depot deck Saturday morning in 2019, will move to Friday evening from 5-7 p.m. on the depot deck prior to the annual Friday night street dance.
Making its first appearance at the Pumpkin Festival will be the Sleeping Booty Band. The 12-piece North Carolina band features a horn section, percussion and multiple lead vocalists. Billed as a high-energy group, the band is known for covers from Aretha Franklin to ZZ Top.
Sleeping Booty will rock the Main Street stage from 7-10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2.
On Saturday afternoon, the band Heads Up Penny — also a newcomer to the Pumpkin Festival — will entertain on the Main Street stage from noon to 4, pausing at 1 p.m. for the annual parade.
Heads Up Penny is a five-piece band based in Raleigh. With influences rooted in classic rock, country, funk and R&B, the group’s sound is described as wide-spanning and refined. Song topics range from classic heartbreak to drug addiction, the mysteries of God and the importance of hats.
“This year’s festival looks to be as great as ever with even more announcements to come as the festival grows closer,” said festival entertainment director Mark Cone. “Last year was just the beginning — this year will be even better!”
The Spring Hope National Pumpkin Festival is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 2 and Saturday, Oct. 3.
